JKUSA to Offer Free Health Screenings and Medical Consultations at JKUAT

The JKUAT community is set to benefit from an exciting initiative that prioritizes health and well-being. On 31st October and 1st November, the Office of the JKUSA Health and Accommodation Secretary will host a two-day Free Medical Screening Camp to offer critical health services to students and staff alike. The event will take place at designated spots around campus, creating easy access for everyone to receive essential medical check-ups.

Building on the tremendous success of the previous health drives, where over 5,000 students underwent screenings, this year's camp aims to ensure even more members of the community benefit from free and comprehensive health services. The event will cover a range of medical tests, including:

  • Blood Sugar Tests
  • Blood Pressure Checks
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) Assessments
  • Cervical Cancer Screening
  • General Lifestyle and Nutritional Counselling

This is a golden opportunity to monitor your health, especially for those who may have found it challenging to access medical services due to financial or logistical constraints. The screening camp is part of JKUSA's ongoing commitment to ensure comrades remain in peak health throughout their academic journey.

Why You Should Attend

Your health is your greatest asset, and staying informed about it is crucial. A simple check-up can help detect underlying issues that could escalate if left unnoticed. Whether you’re worried about high blood pressure, diabetes, or simply want to know more about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the camp offers expert guidance and personalized care—all for free!

Moreover, the camp is not just about medical tests; it's about building a healthier community. This year, the organizers have teamed up with leading health organizations and corporate partners to deliver professional medical consultations that would otherwise come at a cost. This collaboration also opens up opportunities for student volunteers studying health and medical courses, allowing them to gain hands-on experience while working alongside professionals.

MAMA AFYA'S RALLYING CALL:

"The upcoming medical screening camp is a testament to our commitment to the health and well-being of the entire JKUAT community," said the JKUSA Health and Accommodation Secretary, Glory Mulinge "By offering free access to essential medical services, we aim to ease the burden of healthcare costs for students and staff while promoting a culture of proactive health management. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to not only get screened but also to learn more about maintaining a healthy lifestyle."

Corporate Partnerships and Impact

Once again, the event will feature key partnerships with corporate giants in the health sector, ensuring that the highest standards of care and expertise are available. These collaborations also bring in more resources, ensuring the event reaches as many students and staff as possible. Last year’s drive was presided over by JKUAT’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Robert Kinyua, who applauded the JKUSA executive for their efforts in organizing such an impactful event. The success of the previous drives highlights the power of student-led initiatives in making a difference.

Get Involved!

Whether you are a student, faculty member, or part of the support staff, this camp is a fantastic opportunity to engage in health and wellness activities that could make a lasting difference in your life. If you’re interested in volunteering or want to learn more about the services being offered, stay tuned for further announcements from the JKUSA Health and Accommodation office.

This two-day event is not one to miss! Health is wealth, and with free medical services available right on campus, now is the time to take control of your well-being. Spread the word, bring a friend, and let’s make this year’s Medical Screening Camp the best yet. See you there on 31st October and 1st November!
